320

Mrs. Anne K. Lynch, nurse at McDonogh from 1944 to 1972 and wife of Robert C. Lynch, Class of 1928, passed away on September 16 at the tender age of 102.

In celebration of her 100th birthday on August 9, 2008, Mrs. Lynch received over 300 birthday cards from former McDonogh students and even one from the White House.

In appreciation, Mrs. Lynch wrote the following, "While I was touched by the public recognition, nothing meant more to me than the birthday wishes from my McDonogh boys. Your letters made me realize how fortunate I was to watch you grow up and be a part of your lives. I would like to write each and every one of you a thank you note in the tradition of the manners you all learned in the McDonogh community, but there were so many cards."

The Alumni Association recognized Mrs. Lynch with its Distinguished Service Award in 1968.

There will be no funeral or memorial service.

Condolences may be sent to Mrs. Lynch's daughter, Mary Jean Spencer, at the following address: 1242 Murry Chase Lane, Murrysville, PA 15668-8564.

If you would like to make a gift in memory of Anne, the family suggests a gift to McDonogh's scholarship program. Checks may be made payable to McDonogh School Scholarship and mailed to: Development Office, McDonogh School, P.O. Box 380, Owings Mills, MD 21117.
